Millers Bay Neighborhood Earth Day Celebration

Sponsored by the Beautification Committee
Residents of Millers Bay Neighborhood and Menominee South Neighborhood participated in the 3rd Annual Operation Clean Sweep on Saturday, April 25th, 2015. Thank you to all the participants. For those who could not attend, Earth Day and everyday is an opportunity to enhance where we live, work and play by picking up litter and debris from areas around our homes.

The Tree Project

Sponsored by the Beautification Committee
The Millers Bay Neighborhood Association Beautification Committee sponsored a pruning workshop on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Emmeline Cook Elementary School. The workshop was part of a three-fold approach to enhance the beauty of the Millers Bay neighborhood.  In addition to the pruning workshop, the project included pruning terrace trees and planting approximately twenty five new trees in the neighborhood.  The Tree Project was a collaborative effort between the Beautification Committee, the City Forestry Division and the Planning Services Division.

Residents who attended had these comments:
We found Saturday's presentation informative, worthwhile and entertaining. It was, in fact, a topic of conversation at the Y Monday morning. A couple folks talked about trying something similar in their neighborhoods.
We are very appreciative of the tree pruning done, and did thank the City Forester. More tree plantings will enhance the neighborhood. We plan to ask him to look at our terrace tree and possible replacement.
Anyway, a great project; great work by the committee and all involved. Thank You!
Xandy and Tom Kloeckl
I really appreciated today's workshop. It was funny, I went home and immediately recognized some of my old pruning marks as uninformed work, and probably damaging to my tree!! Glad I know for the future. Thanks for organizing it.
